DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Aide Trainee will attend training sessions designed to teach employees how to care for and support residents with intellectual disabilities living at the Center. Training will consist of paid classroom and on-the-job training in an actual resident setting. Upon successful completion of a six-month probationary period, the Aide Trainee will be promoted to a Residential Services Aide (RSA) with responsibility for the full scope of care and support for Center residents. Promotion to the RSA job title includes an increase in the hourly pay rate for the position.

As an Aide Trainee, you will attend formal classroom training sessions and receive on-the-job training assignments to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to assist nursing staff in the direct and daily care of individuals. Training is achieved through formal classroom instruction, computer-based training, reading assignments, and behavioral observation of individuals. You will receive on-the-job training in nonprofessional direct care methods, techniques, and procedures. As knowledge and skills are acquired, further developmental assignments are given in actual work situations. Training and work assignments are performed under the close supervision and review of higher-level staff.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.
  • May have multiple vacancies on each shift below:
    • 1st shift (7:00 AM to 3:30 PM)
    • 2nd shift (2:45 PM to 11:15 PM)
    • 3rd shift (11:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
  • Work hours during training are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
  • Rotating schedule: 7 days on, 2 days off; 8 days on, 4 days off.
  • Travel: As needed
  • Overtime: Is required
  • Shift work: No
  • May change based on operational needs.
  • Multiple positions may be filled from this posting.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • No previous experience needed, training provided.
Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
  • A conditional offer of employment will require satisfactory completion of a medical examination and drug screening test.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
