Job Summary

Under direct supervision of the Access Services Coordinator, work closely with team lead(er) and other team members to provide excellent customer services to library users (faculty, staff, students and community); assist in the daily operations of Access Services (Circulation, Interlibrary Services and Reserve/Media) by helping patrons at the service desk; performing various basic processing and maintaining of library materials. Provide excellent customer service to library users. Assist with various functions of Library operations, including but limited to ALMA, ORCA, E-Resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide front-line customer service by assisting patrons at the Access Services Service Desks (Circulation, Interlibrary Services and Reserve/Media).
  • Process library materials at Circulation, Interlibrary Services and Reserve/Media.
  • Access Library systems platforms, including but not limited to ALMA, ORCA, E-Resources.
  • Provide assistance as needed for Library projects such as moving various collections. Provide guidance to student assistants when supervisors not present.

  • Knowledge and experience with standard office computer software applications.
  • Communicate skillfully, accurately and pleasantly in person and on the telephone.
  • A team player, work efficiently, effectively and courteously with patrons and staff.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to adapt to new systems as well as digital and physical processes.

Education and Experience

Completion of a high school education or equivalent and two years of related library and/or clerical experience required. Ability to work Nights and Weekends strongly preferred

Physical Summary

Medium work - Job involves lifting heavy-weight objects (20-40 pounds) and/or 20% - 40% of the job involves standing, squatting, kneeling, or walking. May require pushing or pulling objects within the weight limits.

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

Hiring Range: $3,382 - $3,750 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,382 - $5,659 per month.

Time Base

1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.

Seeking candidates who possess the ability to work flexible (nights and weekends) schedules to accommodate business needs. However, please note that the final schedule will be determined upon successful hire. Sample schedule below:

Schedule A: Tuesday-Saturday 7:30am - 4:30pm

or

Schedule B: Sunday 11:30am-8:30pm & Monday-Thursday 1:30pm-8:30pm

Duration of Appointment

This is a temporary position for 1 year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
