Job Description – Deli Clerk
The Deli Clerk will be responsible for serving customers by preparing sandwiches and slicing cheeses and meats by the pound. The deli clerk will ensure compliance with health and fire regulations regarding food preparation and kitchen maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for completing the necessary tasks for the operation of the front deli counters
- Preparing sandwiches according to customer requests
- Slicing meats and cheeses according to customer requests
- Ensure compliance with health and fire regulations regarding food preparation and serving.
- Monitor food preparation methods and presentation of food in order to ensure that food is prepared and presented in an acceptable manner.
- Assist with receiving food and beverage deliveries, and checking delivery contents in order to verify product quality and quantity.
- Maintain cleanliness and appearance of workspace to be in compliance with all sanitation and department of health standards.
- Other duties as assigned by owner
Requirements:
- Must have experience in deli/food service
- Experience with Italian cold cuts and sandwiches highly desirable
- Must have food handling certificate or be willing to acquire it
- Manual dexterity able to operate slicing machines and kitchen utensils
- A team player with good communication skills
- Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure
- Very good physical condition and endurance
Qualifications
- High school or equivalent (Desired)
- Restaurant/Deli experience: 1 year (Required)
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
