POSITION: Sacker/ Cashier/ Grocery Stocker

REPORTS TO: Store Manager

PURPOSE OF STATEMENT:

  • Greets each customer and provides courteous service.
  • Strives daily to exceed my customers’ expectations by providing a positive first impression, determining actual needs, delivering real solutions, adding value where possible, and leaving the customer with a lasting positive impression, by providing superior customer service.
  • Provides service to customers by always determining their needs, and continually increasing my knowledge.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greets each customer in ongoing effort to elevate overall customer satisfaction level and deliver superior customer service.
  • Bag customer purchases quickly insuring that the bags are not overloaded and the merchandise is not damaged. To prevent loss of money and merchandise through removal of bottom-of-the-cart items, and careful product handling.
  • Move recyclable materials, damaged and “returnable” products to the back room, sorting the materials into bins.
  • Respond to customer questions/requests and explain store policies in a courteous manner.
  • Assist casher’s by bagging, and assisting customers with carry out to their vehicles when necessary, retrieving shopping carts from parking lots.
  • Prepare the back room for receipt of merchandise, unload trucks and sort cases according to aisle or pallet for stocking.
  • Load stocking carts/pallets, transport cases to sales floor either on stocking carts or pallets, match the case strip to the shelf tag/stock, place merchandise in the designated shelf/display position/ area and “face/front” the front row of each display.
  • Clean store floors, check lanes carts, restrooms, parking lot and shelves. Safely use cleaning equipment and chemicals.
  • Count and record individual items of merchandise for inventory.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by store manager.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Basic mathematical ability (add, subtract, multiply, divide) and ability to count.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be 18 years or older to operate the pallet jack, forklift and baler.

No previous work experience required
