This is a direct hire solicitation. DUTIES:
Serves as an Internist for Martin Army Hospital performing functions for a wide variety of cases of average difficulty and responsibility. Scope of services include, but are not limited to: Treat patients on either an inpatient or outpatient status. Diagnose and treat the entire spectrum of internal medicine diseases from acute medical intensive care to minimal hospital care patients. Determine need for continuation or change in treatment/therapy prescribed. Order and interpret laboratory tests and x-rays. Recognize disease syndromes which require further evaluation and/or referral to other hospitals. Provide long-t! erm treatment to patients with various internal medicine diseases on an outpatient basis. Provide consultation service for the medical staff.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Degree: Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicants graduation. [A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States may be demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) (or a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country).
Graduate Training: Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervi! sed experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a ! 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in an institution accredited for such training.
Licensure/Certification: Candidates must have a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Specialized Experience: Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their resume that they possess 4 years of residency training in the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience and training in the specialty of Internal Medicine. This required Internal Medicine experience/training will include skills such as, but not limited to, a wide range of medical duties specializing in all aspects of inpatient or outpatient care, such as examination, diagnosis and treatment of internal medicine diseases to ensure effectiveness of treatment and post discharge. At least one year of this experience must have been equivalent! to the next lower level, which would involve independent treatment of complex cases requiring advanced skills.

This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for appointment to this position will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Tentatively selecte! d applicants will be required to sign DA Form 5019 (Condition of employ! ment for certain Civilian positions identified as Critical under the Department of Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program)requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
Successful completion of a pre-placement physical examination is required.
Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
All Health Care Providers must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and certification Current Advanced Life Support of other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
