DUTIES:
The Carl Vinson VA Medical Center is currently recruiting for a Physician with Board certification in Internal Medicine or Geriatrician with Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in Geriatrics for Service Line Manager for Geriatrics and Extended Care Service (G&EC). As such,! the nature of the position requires strong equal leadership skills in ! administration and patient clinical-care; where clinical care intergrates quality of care and education. He/she will direct the patient care in the Community Living Centers and the non-instutitional community based programs under the G &EC service. He/she will supervise all staff under the G &EC Service Line and make sure that all personal issues are addressed appropriately and in a timely manner. Plan and submit budgets, monitor fiscal performance of the G &EC service to provide clinical services to veterans in a fiscally responsible manner.Ensure appropriate coverage for patients. Provide specific guidelines for physician performance expectations. He/she will monitor staff and ensure all paperwork, education, training for providers are being met. Oversees recruiting process. He/She reports directly to COS and provides patient clinical care and planning in an interdisciplinary approach in collaboration with the COS, Associate Director of Patient/Nursing (ADPNS), and other ! health care professionals. Must maintain current BLS Basic Life Support and ACLS certificate at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Must be a U.S. citizen or naturalized citizen

Must be proficent in spoken and written English

Must possess/maintain a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the U.S. or the Distric of Columbia.

Must possess a degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicne.

Must be board certified or board elgible in Internal medicine or Geriatrics.

Physical Requirements:
Heavy lifting (45 lbs and over); Heavy carrying (45 lbs and over): Straight pulling and pushing; reaching above shoulder; use of fingers; both hands required; walking and standing up to 8 hours; repeated bending; Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultan! eously; hearing aid permitted.
